You are all invited to a revision seminar on Redox next Wednesday (18th may).  It will run from 4 until 5.30 pm in J37.

We will remind you during the week.  It should be really useful.  :-)

Dates for next two weeks

I just wanted to confirm the mocks and coursework sessions running over the next two weeks - I think I may have got muddled up on Friday, sorry.

Next week:
F324 retake, open to all, after school on Thursday (5th May)
Final quantitative task, open to all, after school on Friday (6th May)

Week after next:
13e F325 mock, Thursday P5 - this will run over I'm afraid.  You are welcome to come at the beginning of lunch to get started early. (12th May)
13b F325 mock, Friday P1&2 (13th May)

Bonus opportunity: Spectroscopy in a suitcase, two sessions (P1&2 and P3&4), open to all.  It involves some visitors from Oxford Uni with £10,000s of spectroscopy equipment.  They will present you with an unknown chemical and some data, you will collect some data and then work out what it is.  Great revision for F324.

Revision questions - they are working!

I've just learnt that the revision questions look like they might not work - I think this just a problem with the preview though.  If you download the whole thing it does work.  Please try and download it :-)

F325 revision resources

Dear Year 13

I have put together a set of revision questions to help you with your F325 revision this holiday (mark scheme and examiners report included).  It's really important that you are frequently revising and testing your knowledge of the course.  You will need to divide your time between preparing for your final evaluative paper (see below) revising F325 and F324.

Remember - knowing all of the content of the course will get you to around a grade C (in both papers).  Higher grades come from being able to apply your knowledge and answer questions in new contexts.

Next term we should aim to practice the higher grade skills (as soon as we finish transition metals).  To do this you will have to already have learnt the course (that we have covered so far).

13b - I have also included a powerpoint on the colours of select transition metals in solution and in their hydroxide precipitates.  Please work through the powerpoint and learn these colours.
